Noravank Monastery

Carrying on the project “Komitas” in Vaiots Dzor «Sebastatsiner» Teachers’ Choir visited the Monastery Noravank.  I was among the singers in the choir. All of us admired the beauty of our nature and the unique monastery built in the middle ages. Our impressions are indescribable                                                                                                                                                Noravank is a 13th century Armenian monastery, located 122km from Yerevan in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu river, near the city of Yeghegnadzor.  It was founded in the year 1205 by Bishop Hovhannes from Vahanavank Church. The gorge is known for its tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs, directly across from the monastery. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin  church The beauty of this monastery is appreciated by many tourists not only because of its architecture but also for its harmony with the nature.
